The Blue Mountain Canada Day Experience
If you’ve only visited Blue Mountain to ski, you’re missing out on the Blue Mountain Canada Day experience. It’s the first long weekend of the summer and it seems like everyone wants to get in on the action.
There’s lots to do in and around the area. The past celebrations of Canada Day at Blue Mountain and Collingwood, especially for Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations in 2017, were well attended and enjoyed by people of all ages.
What to Expect on Canada Day at Blue Mountain
Like we said, everyone wants to get in on the action for Canada Day. Visitors can look forward to planned events hosted at Blue Mountain Village, the Town of the Blue Mountains, usually centred in Thornbury and Clarksburg, and in Collingwood too.
Among the many other celebrations, visitors to the area enjoyed these activities to celebrate Canada 150.
- Canada Day Eve Party – With Canada Day falling on Saturday, visitors started celebrating on Friday night. In Thornbury, they enjoyed a Canada Day Eve Party including live music, a BBQ dinner, children’s activities, and local ice cream for dessert.
- Fireworks! – We don’t think a night went by that weekend without fireworks displays all over the area. Including those put on in Thornbury, Blue Mountain and Collingwood.
- Pancake Breakfast – Canada Day dawned with a delicious pancake breakfast right under the famous clock tower in Collingwood.
- Kids’ Fish Derby – Prizes are awarded for biggest fish, smallest fish and ugliest fish!
- Lumberjack Show – In addition to all the chopping and sawing, visitors enjoyed axe juggling demonstrations and an aerial rope act.
